Emphasis will be placed upon learning through play. We are striving to provide a social and recreational outlet for children's growth and development prior to making the transition to Kindergarten. See our Playschool Brochure for more information. You can also download the playschool registration form here.
SPECIAL NEEDS AFTER SCHOOL CARE: The goal of the YMCA Special Needs After School Program is to provide the participants with a positive, safe and supportive environment where social interaction, physical activity, and rules can be provided with the goal of increasing social skills of students with special needs. ACHIEVEMENT PLUS TUTORING
YMCA Achievement Plus Tutoring is an after school program designed to help students improve their school performance. The program is open and free of charge to all students in grades 5-12 as well as ESL and GED students. See the attached brochure for more information.
Since 1884, the YMCA has been training leaders of the future. YMCA Youth Leaders Corps programs are designed to help participants build skills that they can use for a lifetime! Leadership programming at the YMCA aims to provide a sense of responsibility and well-being to youth between grades 4- 12. Through fun activities, youth become more involved in community initiatives, work on leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, and develop a sense of personal responsibility through the YMCA’s Core Values of respect, responsibility, caring, honesty and inclusiveness.
Leadership groups are divided into appropriate ages in order to ensure quality programming for your child:
Girls Growing Strong & Young Adventurers Club - Grades 4-6
Leaders-In-Training (LIT) - Grades 7-9
Leaders - Grades 10-12
Also, the YMCA provides Aboriginal Leadership programming through our Tomorrow’s Y’s Leaders (TYL) Corps program. Youth ages 12-18 participate in cultural, leadership, social, and personal development activities to encourage youth to broaden their interests and to make healthy, positive life choices. These skill building techniques and traditional teachings are essential to engage and empower youth, which serve as the foundation to learning and life achievement.
The YMCA also provides sponsorship to individuals and families, because no one is turned away because of financial limitations. Once you have a membership, many youth programs and Saturday classes are free of charge. Swimming lessons are free with a membership, as are Leadership programs.
Please contact the YMCA for more information on any of these programs.
