The purpose of the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association is to develop interest, participation, and excellence in volleyball through the promotion and provision of quality services for all.
Mini Volley is an approach developed by Volleyball Canada to initiate people to the game of volleyball. This modified version of the traditional game of volleyball aims to introduce the game in a fun and interesting way, making it an easy game for coaches, teachers, and parents to administer.
The goal of Mini-Volley is enhance opportunities for children to play, have fun and experience success in volleyball at any age. Mini-Volley maximizes the number of times each student contacts the ball, provides a variety of different ways to contact the ball so that they may better adapt to the game, and promotes success based on varying degrees of ability.
Mini-Volleyball is targeted at Grades 1-6, but may include Kindergarten and Grades 7-8.
This program is delivered either through a clinic at your school delivered through an SVA instructor, or by a club coach or school teacher. Please visit here for complete details on this program. Queencity Volleyball Club also offers a mini-volleyball program.
Atomic Volleyball is a grassroots program, designed for youth aged 9 -12 years old. It is designed for a 1-1.5 hour session to be run once a week for 8-10 weeks. Each week young athletes are taught basic fundamental skills followed by a 4 vs. 4 game on lowered nets. Atomic Volleyball stresses FUN, FAIRPLAY, and PARTICIPATION by increasing the number of ball contacts per player, creating longer and more successful rallies, and by developing proper skill delivery. This program is offered by the Regina Volleyball Club, and the Queen City Volleyball Club, visit their websites for program dates.
QUEEN CITY VOLLEYBALL CLUB (QCVC)
QCVC was initially started so girls could have fun playing volleyball with their peers, in an atmosphere that would develop their skills and foster a love for the sport. Our mission is to provide as many athletes as possible the opportunity to play volleyball. In 2010 we created our QC Royal program - providing high level athletes with an opportunity to develop their skills and compete with other athletes of similar caliber.
QCVC offers Mini-Volleyball, for those born 2005 - 2008, and Atomic Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, and Camps.
There will be two groups, one for beginners and one for experienced beach volleyball athletes. The sessions take place at the U of Regina beach courts (east side near the tennis courts) Sunday evenings in June.
For more information queencityvolleyball@hotmail.com or visit www.queencityvolleyball.com.
RVC offers tiered age-class, developmental and elite programs for boys and girls ages 8-18 years. The club age-class competitive teams practice regularly and attend tournaments across the province throughout the season, which runs from November through May.
RVC also runs an 8-week developmental Atomic program each semester for boys & girls ages 8-12 years just starting out with volleyball; a Youth Recreational Program for elementary school athletes with a little more experience; a beach program in the spring; and a summer camp.
The program is designed for 13 - 18 year olds (male & female) to develop their beach skills and to have fun. Partners are not necessary for registration.
The sessions take place at the U of Regina beach courts (east side near the tennis courts). The 2012 beach session runs from June 1-24th.
For more information or to register, please email: rvc@accesscomm.ca, and for information on all of the RVC programs, visit our website.
For Grades 7 to 12, The Cougar Volleyball Club provides programs that are competitive in nature with a focus on long term athlete development in areas such as technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects of the sport of volleyball. The Cougar Volleyball Club is directly affiliated with the University of Regina women's volleyball program and as such seeks to provide a strong developmental focus that allows young women to be prepared for post secondary opportunities should they choose that path. The affiliation with the University of Regina Cougars is also important as it provides young aspiring athletes mentors and roles models and looks to inspire young women to combine academics and volleyball at the CIS and college level. Please visit our website for complete details on our Club.
There are numerous Volleyball Clubs in Saskatchewan. If you live outside Regina, please visit here to find your local Club.
The Saskatchewan Volleyball Association website will also provide information on tournaments, Sask Cup, Starting Clubs and more.
